[Video] LIl Herb: "Fight Or Flight" (Ft. Common & Chance The Rapper)

If you follow the blog regularly then you know we use this space to champion those we recognize leaders around our city and beyond. During a powerful week that has seen continued protests in Ferguson and Common bring out Mike Brown's parents at the BET Hip-Hop Awards for an emotional moment of silence we get this piece from the upper crust of Chicago MCs doing what artists from Chicago do best: provide informed social commentary on the world around them. Speaking from voices that span generations and neighborhood lines, the trio espouse well-intentioned bars that ruminate on everything from the socioeconomic stereotypes of being a young black man to the assumptions of the world. Chance, rocking a LDRS Skate hat might sum it up the best: "called me a thief, called me a boy, call me a coward/at least he didn't call me from county with an hour worth of advice on a five day/why Dough Boy not have the same pops he had on Friday/I'd rather be a real man than a real n***a, real talk." Salute on this one guys.
